Take the Fear out of Money
“An honest answer is like a warm hug” (Proverbs 24:26, msg). Isn’t that the truth?
Some Bible versions say an honest answer is like a kiss. Either way, I’ll take it!
I love spending time with friends who are real, honest, down-to-earth people. My best friends don’t put up any pretense or pretend to have all the answers, and that’s so refreshing to me. God wants the same thing. He wants you to come before Him honestly to deal with your past and to plan for your future.
Plus, He already knows. He knows how you feel about life, relationships, and money. If you’re frightened, God understands. He isn’t here to judge you, but to help you.
So we can agree with David:
O Lord, you have searched me and you know me. You know when I sit and when I rise; you perceive my thoughts from afar. You discern my going out and my lying down; you are familiar with all my ways. Before a word is on my tongue you know it completely, O Lord (Psalm 139:1-4, niv).
You cannot hide from God, so why try anymore? God is your Father. He’s Dad. So why not work with Him and let Him work through you? This will happen only if you’re completely honest with Him. Tell him this, as David did:
You deserve honesty from the heart; yes, utter sincerity and truthfulness. Oh, give me wisdom. (Psalm 61:6, tlb).
And He will give you that wisdom!
Today’s Thought: What are you hiding from the Lord? Bring this secret humbly before your loving Father. When we’re completely honest with God, He shows up in His way, which is, of course, the right way.
